Hello, my husband and I have a small farm, Three Springs. We used to raise and show rabbits, we had Rex and Californians. We would tan the rex rabbit hides and used all the rabbit for our freezer unless they were sold for show animals. We then got into dairy goats, we raised alpines and lamanchas. We were on DHI dairy test, we showed very extensively for many years. We also used our milk to raise hogs and calves. We eventually got out of showing, it became very expensive to show. We now have some boer crosses and still have a couple diary goats. We have a few we milk for our use and to feed a calf.
We decided last year to start a small flock of chickens for the eggs, and it has been very rewarding to have our own. My husband is really interested in learning how to palpate a hen to see if she is laying or not. Not having much luck in finding any information out about that.
