Hello from Southern New England

:welcome

Congrats on the upcoming chicks! May will be here before you know it, have you started on their coop?
Thanks N F C. You’re totally right and no haven’t started yet. April is our goal to have everything ready to go. Sorta feels like setting up the nursery and getting ready for baby.

I love looking at coops that people make themselves. I’m always so impressed! I/we are not handy by any means. So I’m going with a pre-fab and the assembly alone seems daunting.

I’m also feeling a little overwhelmed with making a gate. I’ll be squaring off a good size patch of the yard for the little ladies to free range. Going with the garden stakes and wire. So I’ll have to improvise on a gate for that. Good thing the ladies are not coming tomorrow!

Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies! I always check in the "What's New" section as well at the top of this page. This way I can read how I may have a similar question or help give some advice.

@Idaho Chicken Bungalow I have been getting engrossed with chicken emergencies/medical issues stories here. There is some crazy, nasty stuff going on. And sometimes, very sad situations. Rather heartbreaking…

But I have been surprised at the whole rat issue. Does everybody have rat issues? Does it just come with the territory?
