Ft Myers Florida
Hello! I am in southwest Florida. It is, of course, another wet day here. I have ham & beans in the crockpot, bread to go with it, and of course olive oil butter!
The chickens are in my handmade chicken house (of which I have made two) to get out of todays inclement weather. I am fairly new to chicken raising, but boy am I having fun. I have 4 chickens in my house and 1 newly hatched chick. I have a small vegetable garden and an accompanying herb garden. I plan on a couple of fruit trees as well (dwarf ones).
It's just me and my critters here on my mini farm. I have one daughter who lives in the next town with my grandchildren (2) and her husband.

from another Floridian. Check out the Florida thread in "Where are you? Where am I" topic area in the Index. Get yourself on the list. Stay dry - it's gonna get worse by tomorrow! It's clear and blue here now, but we'll see! Check out my thread for my chicken swap in November (see link in my signature line).

Thank you for the warm welcome. This morning, though the sun isn't up yet, appears to be dryer than yesterday. (What can I say, it's Florida. It might pour in the next half hour).

I read various posts yesterday on the natural way to raise chickens. What a great site this is! I didn't know it was here. I found it by accident while Googleing. I'm soooo glad I found it. I now have garlic bulbs in the chickens water, fed them yogurt yesterday, read about buttermilk and read about warm oatmeal on cold nights/days. How kewl! I love my birds. My grandchildrens' chickens live with me and my chickens. We love it! They are soooo funny sometimes, it cracks me up to watch them run, especially the Tophats!!
I realize that I can never be without my chickens, everyday is something different. They provide me with much to do, thats for sure!

Again thank you all for the warm welcome!
