Hi! I have had chickens for only two years now, and have learned a ton as a new chicken mom
I currently have a variety of breeds, mostly from good local breeders and a few I've hatched here at home. I currently have 14 adult hens, 2 juvenile pullets, 8 new chicks, and 2 lovely roosters! As for breeds...it's a bit of a list
Lavender, black, and white Ameraucanas, Welsummers, Spangled Russian Orloff, Polish, Rhode Island Red, Silver-Laced Wyandotte, French Black Copper Marans, and new to the mix are several Swedish Flower Hens, Icelandics, and Salmon Faverolles! Almost ready to hatch some of my first Olive Eggers
I've used BYC.com as a learning reference forever, simply found a lot of answers on there by googling questions!
As my husband and I don't have kids yet, we have a bit of a menagerie of furry children
2 cats, 2 great danes, 6 nubian goats, one Friesian cross filly, and of course the chickens! We try to live a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. We are vegetarian, and mainly only consume our own dairy products and eggs. We grow as much food as we can in our garden, regardless of the short growing season
I'm excited to talk to some fellow chicken-addicts!
