Love your photos. I have polish chickens, too. Sorry your girl lost her crest feathers. You may want to buy some BlueKote and dab it on there regularly until her feathers grow back....to help keep out bacteria and to mask that color of raw skin that other chickens will be drawn to peck at. Good luck. Hope she feels better soon.
 
Hello! I'm also in Springfield and we have some babies in the brooder box right now! I bought a used dog kennel and I'm turning it into a run. What experiences with predators have you come across so far?
