It's a joke because Anchorage is just one more big city with all the big city problems such as gangs, shootings, drugs, etc etc. So 'real' Alaskans don't consider it to be.... well... Alaskan!

Yeah, I had called up the Muni Code Complaint hotline, and talked to a guy who asked for our address. He told me that with our lot size, we could have three hens, which is no trouble for me. Except, I would love to have more, more, more! Our lot is about 4,000 sf, so that's what I get to work with. At least they changed the code here to be 10ft from lot lines and house instead of 100ft!
