Hi Everyone! I posted in the "what breed/gender is this?" section about the young chicken we found earlier this week. Our neighborhood has a wild flock of small chickens that roam freely. They look like bantams but most of them look more like larger seramas so maybe they're mixed? Not that I would know.

They're a wild bunch and we often see them attacked by cats, dead by the road, etc. It's not a safe life going free range in the city! Anyway, one of them ended up in our back yard over our privacy fence this week, up on a shelf in our shed, and our dogs were barking like crazy at it. It was evening and I did not want to put her over the fence, besides, she looked so young and I figure she'll come to a bad end out there on her own. We've been thinking of getting a new chicken and she's a real sweetie. The kids fell in love when I brought her inside. She acts very much like my serama, clucking, purring and rubbing on you. We lost that serama, Flora, in 2008 and before that we had a couple of OEG hens (Camille & Clarissa) who were feisty and awesome birds and amazing layers.

I'm glad to be here! I've been enjoying reading the forum posts for the past couple days. Thanks everyone for the great info!
