Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself. It's great to have found Backyard Chickens!
My family has always had chickens. Even going all the way back to the pioneer days, there has not been a lapse in my family having chickens. I promise I'm not bragging. But, I just started trying to learn how to incubate. There is much to learn.
We have Lavender Orpingtons, Aurocaunas, and Silkies. We live at 2300 feet elevation on the Cumberland Plateau. I just plan on reading and learning!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us here! It's sounds like your years of chicken keeping will be of great help to many members here. I'm sure you will enjoy incubating very much :D It's a remarkable experience to watch the chick hatch from the egg. I will say though that it's very addictive too!! Have a read of this article ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-101
It's a bible on incubating and hatching.

Good luck and enjoy BYC :frow

Thank you all very much! I really am looking forward to it.
I've hatched three batches. The first time, I got 9 out of 41. The second I got 13. The last time I got 18!
Then I realized, I was putting them in upside down. LOL The small incubators make it extremely hard to control the temperature.
We bought a big ol' Georgia Quail Farm incubator though, used, and it is very consistent.
The first 60 are due Saturday out of the big one!!

Thank you all very much! Well, I only got 17 out of 72. Practice makes perfect. It's just a starting point.
Happy hatchin'!!
