My wife and I are just getting started. Tomorrow we bring the girls home. Question: Are there any special precautions I should take to keep predators from digging under the coop and getting at them? Or am I just paranoid?

Hello from Oregon & welcome to BYC Depends on the type of predators in your area. I have a coop with chicken run attached. I ran extra chicken wire across the bottom of the run & top plus have a roof over part of the top. The only time I lost any of my hens is when I free range. Don't stress, just make sure your set up works for you guys

Thanks and good advice, Brenda. I think we have just about a little of everything. I will run some extra wire on the coop. I am not planning on free ranging...too many dogs in the area that are allowed to roam free.
