Hello from Texas!

:welcome so glad you have joined us.

Hope your new additions all turn out to be pullets of the breeds you expect :fl

Thank you! If there are at least 2 or 3 that turn out to be hens, I'll be satisfied, regardless of breed. My last batch of 11 gave me one - yes 1 - hen and 10 roosters. We kept one rooster and the hen.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens!

It is great that you were able to add chickens to your busy life!

Expect to wait until they are 6 weeks old to verify Gender. It they were sold as pullets from a feed store they are most likely pullets

Thanks! Our last batch of 11 gave us one hen and 10 roosters, so I'm hoping for at least a few hens this time. We kept the hen and one rooster but we are trying to give them some friends :)

Welcome to BYC! Most hatcheries are about 90% accurate on sexing chicks, at least the ones i have dealt with. I think it is worth paying more to get mostly pullets rather than spending time and money on raising excess cockerels.
Hope you get what you want and enjoy your time here!

Thanks! I figured we can't get worse odds than the 1 hen of 11, like our last batch. The worst part of rehoming the extra boys was that I quite liked a few of them and was then really picky about where they were going to end up, I didn't want anyone to eat them....
