Hi all. I am in the Gulf Coast Area of southern Texas, we are about 30 miles in from the coast of Galveston. I have a pair of chickens - a Ameraucana rooster and a mixed hen (Rhode Island Red father, unknown mother). We recently got a batch of 5 day old pullets - they came from a lady who orders them from a hatchery as day old chicks and they are supposed to be already sexed, I guess we will see. I have always been an animal lover and over the years, I have had one of almost every thing, lol. We currently have box turtles, a red eared slider, and three dogs. I also have a 17 year old son and my 81 year old grandfather in the house with myself and my significant other, so there is always something going on around here, never a dull moment to be had, that's for sure! Anyway, nice to meet everyone. I have been viewing posts on here for quite a while, maybe a year or more but this is my first time posting, mostly because I had a question that I needed some input on, so for anyone interested, I posted a thread in the What gender or breed section of the forum. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...e-winged-chicks-wanted.1218537/#post-19473777

Welcome to Backyard Chickens!

It is great that you were able to add chickens to your busy life!

Expect to wait until they are 6 weeks old to verify Gender. It they were sold as pullets from a feed store they are most likely pullets
