Hi everyone. My name is Jennifer. I live in Texas. I have 5 kids, 2 are grown, one at home in college and the other 2 are boys that are still being homeschooled.
I have a few chickens right now but we just got going with quail. We hatched about 35 and now have 32 3 1/2 week old chicks in hutches outside, about 30 week old chicks in a brooder in the house and 4 dozen eggs in an incubator right now. I really love chickens but have been losing them to predators and quail seemed like the better choice when looking at my options.

Howdy! Wow I have always thought quail were adorable. There is a good quail forum on this site if you have any questions about them. There is also great information about predator proofing for chickens in the articles section if you want to try more chickens again. Good luck with your quail hope you enjoy your time here. :welcome
PS- I love your username:)

Greetings and welcome to BYC! I used to do coffee basically all my waking hours (Navy) but too acidic for me now so switched over to tea (more caffeine! :yesss:) So glad you joined us. Sorry you've lost so many birds... There are lots of good posts on here that could help you figure out how to better prevent that from happening. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me :old will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
