good morning and welcome too!
I just joined this am myself and am perusing the boards and reading, replying some here and there too.
Birds are fun for sure!
Challenges of course come up, but I do enjoy them none the less.

In terms of them coming home at night?
I found that I let them free range thru the day and called them back with a reward of 'food' when they got there. Made them eager to get home and they come running from all corners!
Almost never had to hunt up an errant bird...and 2 times we did, found her sitting on a nest....
(different birds, different times)

Lots of fun, and plenty of new stuff to learn.
