I've been working on a chicken coop to house 10-20 laying hens, primarily for egg production. We live on a small farm with horses, dogs, and cats, and while I've raised chickens in the past, I gave up my flock when we were thinking about moving. Now, I'm wanting to get back into raising my own egg-laying hens. It's taken me a considerable amount of time to decide which breed(s) I want to start with, but have finally decided on venturing into the German line New Hampshires. I also plan to raise them for production of organic eggs (another portion of my research and reading)!
Now, my next quest ... to find the German line New Hampshire chicks!
Feel free to provide me with any advice ... as I'm pretty new to this.
