Hello from the California High Desert

Thanks for this fantastic site. Looks like a bunch of information here. We live near Gorman, California, north of Los Angeles and south of Bakersfield. Beautiful place to live, and 30-some miles from a decent-size town.

We've been talking about chickens for I don't know how long, and finally jumped in yesterday. Just eight chicks (4 New Hampshire Reds, 2 RIR's, and 2 cuckoo Marans) that are a couple weeks old. Found a very nice fellow nearby in Antelope Acres who set us up.

Life in the western Mojave got a lot more fun. A new thing to add to our current passions for gardening, quilting, astronomy, and guitar.
