Hello from the Central Valley

I've been researching backyard chickens off and on for a couple of years now. I think my daughter is old enough to help tend the flock. I have some neighbors who decided it wasn't for them and I ended up with a pretty good deal on a coop, henhouse and various accoutrements. We are suburban, but our house was built at a time when the lots were big; small house, big yard.
We won't get chicks until the late winter, but I will be following this forum for good advice.

In addition to an interest in self-sufficiency, I brew my own beer and mead, love running rivers (for nearly 30 years now) and love spending time with my family, outdoors.
Cheers!

Hi and :welcome

Sounds awesome, good luck for spring!
It's great you're giving your daughter the chicken experience, a lot of people on here have fond memories of taking care of the brids when they were younger!

I hope you find any info you need here, and enjoy the site. :D
