Hello! From the High Desert CA :)

Thank you!
I checked on her this morning and she seems to be taking her boots well. Shes a bit clumsy but otherwise unperturbed. The others where curious about it at first but are now used to it and are leaving her alone. I sure hope that the boots will straighten out her toes.

Hello from Quartz Hill CA.

I am also new to this site. We are expecting our first flock in Mid-May so we are also beginning to build our coop as well. Be sure to post pictures of your coop. I look forward to future discussions.

Thank you Stanberryk:).

Fowl-hearted, I got my two Easter Eggers from Quartz Hill!
Our coop and run is still under construction. Will post pictures when it's done. My babies for now still live safely in their brooder in our bathroom.:D

Hi. Can you suggest a reliable source of EEers and good layers (RIR, BR, etc) in Quartz Hill? I'm here, too, and am looking for good layers but would love to have some Americaunas or other colored egg layers, too.

Would also be interested to hear experience regarding specific needs for coops/care because of climate here. (usually extreme heat in summer, tho imo this one has been mild) and winters with some freezing temps. (Sunset zone 11, USDA zone 8). Also sustained significant wind and serious gusting, too.

I also have a hawk who sometimes hangs out in the desert behind our house. I'm planning to free range. Has anyone had experience with that? We have owls, too, tho I think that will be less of an issue since I plan to coop them at night when owls are hunting?

Thank you
Mary Beth
