Hello everyone: I've been enjoying reading the outstanding information found on this site and thought I would finally join. My husband and I built an A-frame coop last month(will try to post some pics!). We followed the directions from Ana White's A frame coop here: http://ana-white.com/2012/05/plans/frame-chicken-coop. We have had our 3 1 year old buff orpington hens for about 3 weeks now and just love them. They were acquired from some friends who were moving. We live in Radford, VA on almost an acre and have been moving the coop every couple of days so that the chickens have fresh grass to eat. It has been working out well so far. We had no idea what we were getting into with raising chickens but have been pleasantly surprised how fun it has been for our family(we have 4 childrens ages 2-13).
