Hi everyone,
We got our first chicks just 4 weeks ago. 16 of them! (A surprise to my hubby who was envisioning a flock of 6 :)
Plus we inherited with our new house 2 chickens that have "aged out of the system" (of egg-laying).

The baby chicks, all female, are from Meyer hatchery. They were chosen for their docile manner, good laying, and cold-hardiness; oh, and I wanted a somewhat colorful egg basket. Experienced folks will have to let me know if I chose wisely. Types are as follows:
1-Black Langshan
1-"Assorted Rare" (can't ID so far)
1-Meyer Meal Maker (free chick with a commitment to give its meat or eggs to someone in need) (Also no ID yet)
2-Buff Brahma
2-Silver lace Wyandotte
3-Black Australorp
3-Easter Eggers
3-Rhode Island Red

Anyway, I've been lurking for a long time, and I figured I am now bona-fide chicken-keeper and should join in.

Thanks for all the info I've already learned from everyone, and I'm looking forward to enjoying your company as the babies grow,

Warmly,
Robin
