Hi all! I am new to BYC, but not to owning chickens. We had a flock several years ago. Life got busy and the hens got older, so we decided to get rid of our flock. We moved to a new property in 2018, and I am now ready to get a new flock. Yay! We are getting ready to start building our coop. I have my chicks ordered. We like the dual purpose breeds and I went with a black and white color scheme. I thought that would be pretty. 😁 We ordered Dominiques, White Orpingtons, Columbian Wyandottes, and Black Australorps. They will be here around April 15th, so that gives me several weeks to get the coop finished before they can go into it. I'm looking forward to learning new things from you all!
 
:frow Hi and welcome from the Heartland of America! Er, that would be, more specifically, SE Missouri. Mark Twain country. So glad you joined! This is the place where you can find out Everything You Need to Know About Chickens. And the first thing you need to know is, they're addictive! So figure out how many chickens you think you want/need/ plan to have. Then calculate how big of a coop they need (4' sq ft each, approx.) And how big of a run (10 sq ft per bird)... then double it. Because why? Chicken math! 😆 Chicken math is insidious and real! Ask me how I know.... anyway, welcome to our world!
