Hello everyone! Been reading BYC for awhile and finally decided to join. I'm from the SW United States and will be looking to start my own flock once I finish school, so anyone that knows some good hatcheries and/or breeders around here let me know! Thanks!

What part of the southwest? New Mexico here!!

There are lots of places to get chickens. You can go to most feed stores this time of year and get chicks. Some nice hatcheries out there like My Pet Chicken, Murray McMurray, Ideal, Oh, and Privett Hatchery here in New Mexico. I have dealt with them in the past and they have quality birds.

You can also chat with others in your state thread and maybe connect with other members nearby you...

Hello and Welcome To BYC! TwoCrows gave you some good links to get you started. If you have narrowed down the breeds you want, many of them have threads in the Breeds forum, they are another good place to find breeders, especially for the uncommon breeds.

Hi everyone, thanks for the welcome!

I too am from New Mexico after much research I do know the breeds I'm looking for (Buckeyes, Giants, Delawares, Dominiques), thanks for the links! I've looked into Privett, glad to get some feedback on them!
