Every couple of months for the last several years I think "I think backyard chickens would be a good idea!" Then I do some research and the rest of life comes rushing in and pushes the thought out again. For a while. Until the next time.
And here we are...
a few years back my CSA pick-up spot had three hens. And that's about the extent of my exposure to backyard poultry. I'm taking a class on Sunday over at a local Urban Farm Store (Egg|Plant) and I'm asking people if they know people with chickens. This is all before I even start to have conversations with the neighbors. Why would I involve them before I've really decided whether this is something I can manage?
Anyway...I think I'd feel more confident about taking the plunge if I knew people in my area who have backyard/pet chickens so I'm trying to find them. If you're in the Twin Cities I'd love to chat and see how you've managed to set things up.
Happy spring!
