Hi
We are just building our very first chicken ark for our garden ready for our little chicks. We are very new and have never kept chickens before so will be looking for lots of hints and tips. Robert my husband is planning to build a bigger hen house over the next few months for our girls to live in. We live in a village in Lincolnshire England with our cocker spaniel Mia and out black cat Sweetpea. The weather here has been so wet this year we are wondering if we should be keeping ducks instead of chickens :)
Thanks for reading.

The only advice I ever remember getting is:
"If you dont like taking your birds for a walk, keep chickens."
Ducks need lots of walking (or so I hear, still have yet to have my own to confirm) or a pond to swim around in. Thats half the reason we decided to go with chickens.

As far as wet weather, chickens should be fine as long as they have some shelter to dry out in.

Good luck and welcome!

Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So glad to have you aboard. I have both, chickens on one side of the barn and the ducks on the other. Last year was a wet year for us and the ducks loved it. This year is hot and dry. So you never know what kind of weather you'll get. :th
