Hey everyone, Cody here from Western PA. Figured it was about time I introduced myself.

I've had chickens for basically as long as I can remember got my first one (3) at the Butler Fair when I was 3 years old, and I'm about to turn 32, so we're going on almost 29 years now. Over the years I've kept just about every breed you can think of, and at any given time I've had anywhere from one bird to 500.

These days I'm focused on Silkie breeding projects out of my place in Western PA. I've been working on these lines since before COVID and I'm really enjoying digging into the genetics side of things. Right now the flock is Silkies and Isa Browns.

Outside of chickens, I raise registered
Angus beef cattle, have a Golden Retriever, and two kids who keep things interesting. By day I'm a voice network engineer. Between the farm, the kids, and the day job there's never a dull moment.

Looking forward to connecting with other Silkie breeders and chicken people on here. Happy to chat anytime.

Attached a photo of my first silkie.

Hi Cody! Welcome in. :welcome

If you're looking to connect with another Silkie breeder, check out Debbie's Silkie thread.

Sounds like life keeps you busy, and that's usually a good thing! :)
Thanks for the warm welcome! And a huge thank you for pointing me toward Debbie's Silkie thread, that is exactly the kind of rabbit hole I needed.

I’ll be honest, it took an incredible amount of self-control not to immediately message her about buying eggs, but my incubator is strictly at capacity right now (unless if I get another incubator set up, jk)! I'm definitely bookmarking it for the next round, though. Thanks again!
