Hello everyone!

I've lurked and read for a while now so I've decided to take the plunge and sign up and try to be a member of the community here.

I've grown up around chickens but moved away for university, I kept going back to my parents to feed and deal with their hens and it wasn't until recently I realised how much I missed dealing with them. I'm set to move to a bigger place with a bigger garden in a few months so I'll be starting up a flock of my own.

Well that was the plan anyway, my dad gave me an incubator and told me if I can hatch them out, he will look after them until I'm in the new place. So this weekend I'll be getting the incubator but I won't be starting to attempt to hatch straight away. I planned to have a week\two weeks dry run attempting to keep a steady temp and humidity whilst working shifts, I hope I can manage.

Sorry for the essay.... Hi!

Good luck with your hatching and welcome to our flock!

Thanks for the greetings!

I've read, read and reread most of the articles crow linked a while ago, I even printed them off and bound them in a file to read before bed, I'm prepared mentally but its all down to experience and doing it.

I think I'm getting 12 Silkie eggs and 12 Cream Legbar crossed with my favourite cockerel who is a cross himself, hopefully it works out.
