Hi Everyone!

I am so glad I have found this community of hen keepers! Sadly I didn't find it in the best of circumstances as I have a very sick little hen and came across this site whilst I was frantically scouring Google to find a cause for my hen's sudden turn. I have posted her symptoms in the Emergencies section so if anyone can give any in site as to what has caused it would be greatly appreciated.

So time to introduce myself...

My name is Meg and I have a small flock of 3 little ex-battery hens which I have had for little over a year now. Their names are Ethel (this is the sick little hen) Betty and Mildred. Up until I brought the girls home I never realised how entertaining chickens could be. I have had many a laugh with my girls chasing me round the garden or watching them play with my little dog (Ethel likes to chase the ball with the dog which is amusing to watch as the dog lets her get it)

My girls free range all day in my little yard, it is not huge but as they came from cages I guess it is heaven for them.

Nice to meet you all :)

Meg

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sorry about Ethel not feeling well, hope she recovers.

Thanks for the welcome guy's.

After some forum trawling and some pointing in the right direction it sounds like she has sour crop. I have managed to vomit her a couple of times now and her crop has dramatically reduced in size I am hoping we are heading down the road to recovery now :-)
