Hi everyone! I’m a 40-year-old wife and mom of three, living in Michigan. I work at our local health department and also serve as an EMT for two local agencies. We started our chicken-keeping journey last September, but I grew up with chickens as a child, so it’s been wonderful to return to this rewarding hobby.
Currently, we have 8 adult chickens and 18 chicks ranging from 11 weeks down to two weeks old. Our flock includes Easter Eggers, Sex Links, Sapphire Gems, a Barred Rock, and several barnyard mixes.
One of my favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens is caring for them alongside my children. It’s a joy to watch them learn responsibility and develop a connection with our animals.
Beyond chicken-keeping, our family enjoys gardening, hunting, and fishing. We love spending time outdoors and embracing a hands-on lifestyle.
I discovered BYC through a Google search and a recommendation from my sister. I’m excited to join this community, learn from your experiences, and share our own adventures in chicken-keeping.
