Greetings from Texas! It looks like you're on the right tracks. And yes it sure helps with the neighbors if they're all girls. On the other hand, I love to listen to our neighbor rooster.

I could enjoy waking up to a rooster's crowing, but the neighbors who have come to admire the growing chicks sure seemed pleased to hear we didn't bring one home. I do have a short list of names in case a little rooster someday slips past the experts, but we are afraid that as a long term pet it wouldn't work to keep a male. I know that most people (including my dh and at least a couple of the dc) would gladly eat him, but those of us bonding with them don't care to.
