(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

We are brand new to chickens! Haven't gotten any yet, but hoping to get them In and situated this summer to be able to have eggs next year.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
None yet :-)

(3) What breeds do you have?
Looking to probably get Rhode Island Reds and Wyandottes. Looking for good natured, multi-purpose since we will use meat after they are no longer in prime.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google :-)

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Homeschool my 2 boys (8 and 11), race triathlons/run, canning.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have 1 very senior citizen shepherd/husky mix, and we live in the middle of the woods - one of my hold backs in jumping in sooner is a fear of predators, but feeling more confident after hearing a presentation. By The Chicken Whisperer and reading his book.

We are planning/prepping to build our coop now. EXCITED to get going.:)

Glad to have you here.. There are Several TN threads. TN, West, Middle and East TN. There is also a good Canning Thread. Coop building Ideas. We built ours from pallets. Plenty of good Ideas. Good Luck on building your flock.
