Hi
frow.gif
- My name is Lilia and I'm located in Trevose PA (close to Philly). Earlier this year we started out with 7 pullets (Rhode Island Red, Easter Egger, Black Sex Link, Red Sex Link, Delaware, Dark Brahma, and Barred Rock). Then, the chicken math kicked in, and we built a bigger coop and added Black Copper Marans and Wheaten Ameraucanas. Of course, we couldn't stop there and acquired Coturnix Quails. Now that's when we learned about quail math. We bought an incubator and hatched 2 batches of both, shipped and our own eggs. (Would love to hatch a batch of JMF quail eggs next).

Love this forum and looking forward to learning more from everyone!

Welcome to BYC, Lilia. I'm glad you decided to join our flock. Very few BYC members are immune to chicken math. :o) Black Sex Links are my personal favorites; hardy and friendly, egg laying machines. I've raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds and hybrids) and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per hen per year. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Thank you Michael! The Black Sex link has been a pretty good layer, as most of our girls. The only exception would be our BCM. We have one that started laying recently (she picked her own personal spot outside the coop and lays about 3 eggs per week now, but her eggs are so pretty that I don't mind getting them not as often),

You're welcome. BCMs do have lovely chocolate eggs. I think they are the prettiest eggs in the chicken world. I like them even better than the colored eggs of EEs. :o)
