Hello, hello! My name is Jaime, and while I’ve kept a small flock of chickens for the last few years, we have finally moved into our own small bit of acreage where I have a chance to delve deeper into hobby farming :) we have been learning a lot as we go, and are in the process of building a larger, more secure coop area for our mixed flock. we currently have three chickens — two Olive Eggers, and a “Lavendar Ameraucana” who, sadly, doesn’t lay blue eggs :( she’s a beauty though :) I had hoped to have a small group of Silverudd Blues in the brooder at this point, but my eggs didn’t survive the trip through the postal system. I’ve had other hatched go well though, and currently have 16 ducklings and 8 quail growing fast in the heated barn utility room. There are a few other breeds and colors that have been on my chicken bucket list — a silver laced Polish girl, a tolbunt frizzle polish girl, a super fluffy and bearded silkie, a moss green laying Olive Egger, beilefelders, and some of the frizzle/white Ayam Ceminis I’ve seen CiaBia listing.

I’m lucky to be at home with the kids and able to put time into making this home my dream space. The kids love having animals around — we also have cats, a dog, fish, a reef tank, lizards, dart frogs, a snake… I find setting up habitats fascinating, and am an avid plant collector as well! Someday, I hope to add more livestock to our space — German Angoras and Pygoras goats are on my list, as I really enjoy working with fiber crafts like needle felting, and would love to pick up a wheel to start spinning someday.

Greetings to my old stomping grounds in Tualatin, we're a few miles away now. Among our countless chickens we have 3 Lavendar Ameraucanas who do lay (very small) bluish eggs. I got them from a local lady over in the Sellwood type area. The Super Blue Egg Layers from mypetchicken.com in their current breeding program have made for some beautiful blue eggs. The first few generations (and therefore reviews) of the Super Blues weren't that impressive, but now they've got it going on if you're still looking for blue eggs.

Also on goats - visit the NW Oregon Dairy Goat Association ( https://nwodga.org/current-members ) - usually they have a big clinic kind of thing in February every year, though with Covid I don't know what the plans for 2022 include - anyways, it's an event where you can take a variety of classes depending on your particular interests and find folks who have the types of goats you wish to consider keeping.
