Hi there,

You might say that I live in the suburbs but soon my husband & I will be moving to a very rural area and we can't wait to get started on raising a few chickens on the two acres we will be moving to.

I have never raised chickens before and even after reading books and publications, watching YouTube videos, etc. on the "how to's" I am a bit overwhelmed. I found this forum with doing a Google search for raising chickens and immediately felt this is where I could get the valuable answers to my questions plus maybe meet a few chicken people who may live by me.

I am happy to now be a part of this community and look forward to someday being a knowledgable contributor in one way or another.

Hello!!!
Hi there! My husband and I are about to move from Northern California to Utah. I have 2 standard hens and 3 silkie bantum roosters and was surprised how strict Utah laws are concerning backyard chickens! My Husband’s job requires that we live within and hours drive (or so) of the SLC airport. I’m getting a bit worried that we won’t be able to find a place by the 3 month deadline they gave us... I’m not leaving without my chickens!!!lol anyway, good luck with your flock and enjoy living on you .5 acre of land. I was born in Los Angeles, but am now a dedicated small town girl. Lol. I look forward to hearing about your adventures “chickening” in Utah. It really is so much fun!

Can you keep Roosters in Toole? I’m trying to find a rooster friendly spot in Utah...
I think you are allowed to keep roosters there and the general Tooele area would probably be the best place to look if you are wanting to keep your rooster. A couple years ago, we ended up with a little roo and I actually rehomed him to a lady living in Tooele.:(
