You've got some good, hardy, dependable breeds and should get lots of nice brown (or colored from the Ameraucanas) eggs from those girls. Good luck with your flock.

Thank you! They are going on 8 months now and I have yet to see the first egg from any of them! :( Any suggestions of what I I could be doing wrong? Or do I just wait it out?? I had them on organic chick starter up until about 2 months ago then switched them to a 16% protein feed and still nothing. They also get scraps (Veggies and fruit)n also when available. I have 15 laying nests and pine shavings down currently...

You're welcome. You might want to check around and see if they are laying in a hidden nest somewhere other than the nest boxes. We frequently get posts from new members telling us that their hens are not laying, only to find a hidden nest later on (sometimes a considerable distance from the nest boxes) where the hens have been laying their eggs. Also, is it possible that something is eating the eggs? You might see if there is any kind of fragmentary shell evidence around. Other factors that might be causing them not to lay is inadequate daylight, broodiness, stress (due to either predators or some recent change in their enviroment, illness, etc.). You can take inventory of these and determine whether or not any of them could be a factor. If not, then you will just have to wait and see. It may be that they are just not ready to lay yet. Good luck in getting those eggs.

Thank you so much for the advice! We found our first egg last night! (It was stepped on because it was dark and no one seen it until it was too late) I believe from now on we will be looking for them on the ground. I also found out that we have 5 roosters in our bunch! That may be another reason for the lack of eggs. The hatchery where we had them shipped from were only supposed to send us 2 :/ So.. needless to say, we will be finding all but 2 new homes.

You're welcome. Good luck in re-homing your roosters.
