Hello,

I am searching for ones who would be interested in helping get the law changed in Hillsborough County to allow backyard chickens as pets.

My chickens are a part of my family and I love them very much. It seems, though, that the law does not allow them as pets unless property is zoned for agriculture. I live in a neighborhood on 3/4 acre and we do not have a home owners association. My back yard is private and I only have hens. In fact, you wouldn't even know that I have chickens unless I told you.

Any advice or help in Hillsborough county would be great. I have a friend who has a friend that is an attorney who used to be a judge who can help us, but it will take some money of course. Which is probably why the law hasn't been changed.

Thank you,

Cj

I don't think getting a lawyer involved would be necessary? Have you explored other options yet? You should post in your state thread here as well, to see if there are anyone in your area that can help:

Best of luck!

Yes, posting on your state thread may draw others in to rally around you. Also people who may have challenged restrictions and had them changed in other towns. Good luck.
