Hi there. I'm new to the chicken world. I've had my ladies for a couple months now. I just rescued 3 more last week so were up to 9. I have enjoyed reading these forums so I thought I would join as I have a few questions. This is such a great recourse!!!

I wasn't able to quarantine as I'm not set up for that and these birds had gone days without food or water. They did not have adequate living conditions and their owners parted ways they were left with the ex husband who didnt care for them. It was one of those desperate situations, they needed to be gone, and I didn't have time to set up a new living situation. I checked them over for mites and fleas and overall health. They looked great. They did get a little poultry dust for good measure since we just got over mites. I put them in the run and locked the rest of the girls out of the run only giving them access to the outer coop with the nesting boxes. I put them all together late that night. They all get along fantastic. I won't be adding new birds again for a long time.
 
Thanks. I was a bit worried that they wouldn't be accepted or they might have health issues. Now hopefully they will start laying. They weren't when I got them. So hopefully more than adequate living conditions will encourage them to start, that and they learn that the coop is where they sleep and vegetable scraps are awesome. These poor birds were a little deprived. :(
