Hello everybody!!

I live in Isle of Wight County, Virginia and I am interested in raising some chickens.

This site was highly recommended by some friends that recently started their chicken project.


I've been researching different breeds and have decided on buff orpingtons. They will be hatching in about 5 days. I can't wait!

We went to a breeder in the county and saw all of her chicks, hen, and roosters. The buffs were my favorite ones there. And my research said they were very docile and good for starting as a new chicken raiser.

Welcome to BYC. I used to fish at Lake Prince and go hunting in Isle of Wight County many years ago. I havnt been up there since the early 90's (just a visit.) I suppose it's close to being 'urbanized' by now.
