After more than a year of sweet-talking and pleading and finally right-out nagging my husband for a chicken tractor - and after waiting for the county to approve a change in law so that residents can have laying hens in their back yards - I'm finally here!
The tractor isn't quite complete but it won't be long. I'm at the point where I'm having to decide on equipment and begin looking for a source for chickens. I don't want many - law will only allow me a max of 10, I believe - and I'm thinking I'll start with 4 to get my feet wet. My husband's family had chickens when he was a kid and my relatives had chickens so we know a bit about raising them. Probably just enough to be dangerous!
I'm in Northern Virginia. Have been reading about the swaps and would love to attend one. Is there a specific spot on this forum where upcoming swaps are listed?
Am sure I'll be asking numerous question as this process progresses. I'm getting excited now!
