I have 5 young hens, all 10 weeks old. They are 2 barred rocks and 3 partridge Plymouth rocks. The barred rocks( Monica and Paris) are friendly with us. The Partridge PRs are more shy and aloof. I think one of my Partridge PRs is a rooster. She looks very different than the other two, having larger comb, different feathers, etc. I didn't plan on having a rooster, but now I am looking forward to having one. Very soon, I will be adding two pullets (light Brahmas) to the flock from a local farm.

I have so much to learn. This is my first flock. I love to read the discussion threads and to view the pictures of this online community. :)

Thanks for the welcome messages! I sat in the coop this morning. Nice way to start the day. I am experimenting with composting in the run. We have a large family garden. The coop is located inside the fenced garden and orchid. With composting, I discovered that the floor of the run is nice, even when it rains.
