Hello, just wanted to say hi to all my new chicken friends! :)
I live in Western Washington, Carnation to be exact and have had chickens for 26 years.
My family has truly enjoyed raising chickens and now my married daughters are either raising or are planning to raise flocks of their own. They've learned that no egg is as good as a fresh egg!
Besides having chickens is a "cheap" form of entertainment, but then we are easily entertained!
I was told about your group from someone who knew that I am looking for a new home for one of my young roosters and thought that you all may be of some help. Then after looking around the site, I thought joining might be fun. I've never joined any site or made postings before, except for on freecycle. So, I hope I've done this correctly.
Looking forward to visiting with my new flock of friends!

Hi and :welcome

Your post's come up fine! So you've done it right. :p
Fresh eggs are indeed quite awesome. Good luck with finding a home for your rooster.

I hope you find all the info you need here, and enjoy the site. :D

Thank you, that is my last resort, since they told me that they usually go for meat, which would be fine except there is no guarantee that they won't go to fighting and I do not want that. And he's kinda special, but again thank you for the help! :)
Enjoy your day!

Hello Smithfarm. I'm also from Western Washington, formally So. California, and I just joined up today myself. I've had chickens since I was a child and can't imagine not having fresh homegrown eggs. I'm now expanding my flock and adding ducks, which I know nothing about. (I bought 4 young ducks at the feed store a couple of weeks ago and now I'm done to 1, due to preditors. I want to replace them, but first I'm going to get a proper pen/run up and hope that the little guy makes it until it's complete.) Do you have poultry auctions up your way? I took 7 roosters to the auction once and got a good price for them. In fact, I have 2 roosters that are going to make the journey this weekend. Not the best option for everyone, but when you need to rehome them sometimes it's the only option.
