I have lurked on this site for quite some time and thought it about time that I officially joined. It has been great to read the experiences of chicken enthusiasts from all over the world.
Here, I keep a free range flock of mostly Leghorns, about 100 at last count. We have Browns, Blacks, Blues, Whites and a few Cuckoo also. I keep them for their eggs primarily to supply our business, a busy cafe. Nothing beats a wonderful free range egg.
I feed my birds under the Free Choice Feed system which works really well.
The best information/article I have read here was the article on Dry Hatching. It changed my hatching practice forever. I live in a high humidity area and my hatching rate now falls between 90 and 100% thanks to the article on BYC.
I look forward to being part of this great little community.
