Hey BYC,
What an amazing site! Glad to have joined, have been reading all these great threads for a few weeks now. I created this account on behalf of my architecture course at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. The course, which is comprised of 10 third/fourth year architecture majors, is a research-design-build studio. This semester we've been commissioned by a local farm to design and build a chicken coop. Sounds fun, huh? Of course there are myriad questions and concerns we've already considered before we reach the design stage and this forum has already proved helpful. Should I search the forum for relavent topics before posting my own questions (ie. whether solar power is worth it, best insulating materials etc.) or should I post a thread and have users higher up in the pecking order (pun intended) guide me in the right direction? I ask because I'm a member of several other online forums and because of search functions vary highly in quality, as do forum's strictness regarding new users. This place seems pretty friendly though! Hope to be discussing chickens with you all soon! If people are interested in our progress I'll keep you posted on our design!
Thanks,
drlopez
