(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Brand new. Picked up 6 ISA Browns, and 2 Black Sex-links on 3/31. Gave 2 to the local guy from whom we've bought eggs before since 8 is too many for us to start with. (TSC was buy 6 get 2 free, so we figured we'd hook him up.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
(3) What breeds do you have?

6 total. 4 ISA Brown and 2 Black Sex-link.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

Google!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Competitive BBQ. Lacrosse coach. Interested in blacksmithing, but have yet to set up a forge. Bought out first pop-up camper last Nov.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

2 girls, aged 9 and 5 (who are going to help with the chickens), wife and myself. 5 cats. Tried a dog, but didn't work for us.

Hi and welcome to BYC

Here’s a good link where you’ll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping chickens - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

Please do check out the Topic of the Week discussions Pork Pie mentioned. I have found these to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
