Welcome to BYC! I am in Alabama and also a new chicken mommy. I have 10. 5 different kind. Tell us how you got into getting your chickens and what kind you have. Would love to hear all about it!

I got into chickens because I wanted my own fresh chicken eggs. My 1 year old Easter laying chicken just laid her first egg for me tonight. I have not had her very long and she was molting when I bought her. I have 10 baby chick inside my house right now they are all polish. They are very pretty and some nice colors. They were born on March 11 for one and the others on March 17th. My order of other baby chicks (26 of them) come in the mail on the April 23rd with all diff kinds. Then I have 3 OB's and 1 Black Star those are 15 weeks old. I really enjoy doing this I am also a horse lover and own 1 but he doesn't live close to me. He is a arab all black. So I thought this would be good for my son and my daughter to do together as a family.

You are going to have a great time with your chickens. Congratulations on your new layer! There is nothing like fresh eggs straight out the coop for breakfast. :p
