HI everyone. I am new to this whole chicken experience. Just picked up 4 chicks last week and am enjoying the fun. My girls are doing well and have settled in despite my children wanting to handle them. excited to start building a coop and look forward to getting ideas and suggestions from all of you. I may have LOTs of questions. Wondering if anyone has any special suggestions for building a cold weather coop. I want to build one big enough for 8-10 hens eventually. I hope to get 3 more chicks this week from a friend who is hatching some Easter Eggers out. Thanks!

Hi :welcome Liz

Glad you could join us here! Congrats on your new chicks :celebrate They sure are lots of fun and very rewarding too. The coop section would be a great place for you to check out, here is the link ~https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coop_Designs
My top tip for coops is plenty of ventilation in the eves to take away excess moisture from the birds poop and breath.

Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC :frow
