Hello from Wichita!

Well it was many years ago that I tried incubating chicken eggs, and I think the main issue was using a still air incubator. Also I don't think added humidity was necessary, but I used a wet sponge, which may have drowned some eggs. I've since upgraded to forced air and no added humidity until lockdown, and have seen much better results- with quail.

I am of the mind that if it's not broken, don't fix it, and since you're doing well now, just take this with a grain of salt.

It's rather humid up here in Wisconsin, too, like today, a very warm sunny day, it's 61%. I have always added water to my incubators as they will go down to 30% if I don't. I keep the humidity in the incubators around 40-50% until lockdown, then up it to about 70%.

I have three incubators, and not one is correct on temperature or humidity, so over the years, I've purchased six Govee (popular with incubator people) hygrometers/thermometers. I use a couple for the brooders, too. If you do not have one yet, look on Amazon, as Govee sells several kinds and usually has a few on sale.
