And I have bought 2 Polish pullets 5 Buff Orpingtons pullets and 2 other pullets and 5 Easter Egger Pullets. So we have quiet a few. looking forward to meeting y'all. Loving reading all the helpful info on here!

Do you have a desire or need for fertile eggs? A rooster can handle 10 hens. If you want lots of fertile eggs you will need another rooster or two - and maybe divide the hens up into separate flocks - each with a rooster. If you don't want to hatch eggs - one rooster is fine. He must think he is in rooster heaven.

Yeah I plan on having another rooster. Maybe one of the straight runs I have will be worth keeping. A lady nearby has a nice lemon Maran I've been thinking about. As far as eggs yes drumstick I'm already wanting to get an incubator and try hatching my own! What kind of eggs do you have? I'm very new to this but am loving it! Mine stay in coop at night and I let them out to forage several hours a day. The ones I have laying are just production reds, nothing fancy. But once my chicks grow I'll have a variety. Which is what I want. Only thing that scares me is winter. I'm hoping to be prepared by then. Any advice appreciated! I'm in an area that apparently not many people have chickens ;-(
