Hello all!! Been lurking around the website and forums for awhile now and decided to finally post...
First time raising chickens and they should be arriving on April 3rd from mypetchicken.com . Decided we wanted winter hardy birds and good egg layers, so we went with the 3 each of following, giving us 21 to start:
Golden Buff (Red Star)
Rhode Island Red
Barred Plymouth Rock
Australorp
Golden Laced Wyandotte
Speckled Sussex
Easter Egger
I have the brooder (7' x 3.5') basically all done in our enclosed porch, havent even gone out to start on the actual coop yet, still just too much snow and its cold out!

and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you'll have a colorful flock of chickens. Really nice brooder you have going there.
