Hello there!
I am fairly new to chickens! I bought my first 6 last Spring and then another 5 a couple months later! Yesterday I couldn't resist snagging 2 more while at the feed store in hopes of adding some blue eggs to my collection
My first batch consisted of 3 Barred Rocks (Cluck Vader, Hen Solo, & Eggs Benny) and 3 Orpingtons (Hillary Fluff, Egg Nog, & Albert Eggstein). The next 5 were an assortment... 1 Silkie (Cluck Norris), 1 Novogen or Buckeye (not sure which - Miss Rosie Red in honor of my husband's chicken he had as a kid), 1 Midnight Majesty (Yolkahontas), and 2 Polish (Princess Lay-a and Obi Wan Henobi). The 2 newest are Easter Eggers (Amelia Egghart and Margaret Hatcher).
I love watching these guys run to me like old grannies holding up their skirts when they hear my voice! I also, of course, love the fresh eggs!
My other hobbies are horseback riding, hiking, fishing, knitting, and reading, among others!
I just got married last summer to my husband and together we have 4 dogs, 4 horses, 12 chickens (Cluck Vader is sadly no more), and 0 children (for now)! I am a nursing student/ex vet-tech and my husband ranches
Bonus question... I have come across BYC in random google searches from time-to-time. I finally decided to join because I have questions about little Amelia Egghart! I hope someone will have answers for me here
