Hello everyone, my name is Vicki, and I'm a married mom to three kids ages 20, 17 and 15. We brought our very first baby chicks home yesterday, and I got absolutely no sleep last night worrying about them. I'm in love! It's kind of like when we brought our children home from the hospital- we were thinking "now what", and it's scary how fragile they seem.
Our interests in chickens started when we first bought eggs from someone here in town. Those were the first non-store eggs I had ever tried, and I couldn't believe how delicious they were. After visiting with people that have chickens and love them, we thought it would be a good thing for our family. I grow a garden each year, and last year it was destroyed by grasshoppers. I figured the eggs, pest control, fertilizer, and just the fun of watching them would be a winning combination. We live in town and are not allowed to have roosters, but there is no limit on hens. We bought five and hopefully all of them will make it. I can only imagine what some of our neighbors will think lol!
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all on the forums.
