Since I am constantly on the BYC site thought I'd join. Grew up on a Iowa farm with every kind of poultry, no pets, just meat birds. Now with family of my own & my daughter has bantam chickens. We currently have Easter Egger & assorted bantams. We are currently in the process of hatching again this year with some Serama's. Hatch day (19) is on May 9th so we are anxiously waiting. Started with 26 eggs & believe we had 10 that developed as of last week......so now we just wait.
Had a crazy brood hen give up on her nest of "blue" eggs on day 20. Poor little chicks, had to rescue the eggs from the cold coop floor and place in the incubator. But so far 2 have hatched & 2 left to hatch in the next or two. My daughter was sooo happy but my hubby.... not so much, since that means building another chicken coop!
Thanks everyone I truly enjoy everyones stories, suggestions & answers.
